QB Woes and Ravens in Rio – Top Things for NFL Week 3
September has whizzed by and so has the first fortnight of the 2026 NFL season! For some teams it has been an absolute dream start, while others are having a nightmare. The Bills, Rams, Seahawks and Bengals have all emerged as early season contenders – but there are a lot of games still to be played and we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves! Injuries to starting Quarterbacks have dominated the conversation in the past week, along with the upcoming slate of international fixtures. So let’s get stuck into the top things you need to know for week 3!
Quarterback Injury Epidemic
Caleb Williams. Jayden Daniels. Jackson Dart. Three franchise gunslingers who have already suffered significant injuries in the early stages of the season. Add in Sam Darnold’s week 1 hip injury and Kyler Murray’s concussion, and it’s fair to say that Quarterbacks have had a pretty rough go far. Dart has fared the worst of all. After an outstanding opening performance, the second year signal caller suffered a brutal knee injury against the Rams which is likely to sideline him for the remainder of the regular season – a huge blow after such a promising start. Likewise for Jayden Daniels, who might be in the market for a new elbow in the near future. Daniels missed multiple games last season due to injury and will be MIA again when the Commanders come to London to face the Colts next weekend.
NFL Fiesta in Rio
Get ready to samba on Sunday! After successive successful outings in Sao Paolo, the NFL International Series kicks off in earnest this weekend with Rio De Janeiro taking centre stage for the first time. Baltimore and Dallas will square off in the iconic Maracana Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with both sides targeting a 2-1 record after the final whistle. Derrick Henry has been a force for the Ravens so far, but a surprise loss to the Saints last Sunday should jolt them out of any potential complacency. With Zay Flowers likely to remain sidelined with injury, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews will need to step up and play bigger roles in the offense. As for the Cowboys, their offense dropped 37 points on Washington last weekend, while Dak Prescott set the franchise record for career TD passes. They’ll likely face a stiffer test from Baltimore’s defense however and will need to build some consistency if they want to become legitimate challengers.
Battle of the Behemoths
Allen Vs Herbert. Nix Vs Stafford. Burrow Vs Rodgers. Week three of the 2026 NFL season delivers some mouthwatering marquee matchups with plenty of potential playoff and postseason implications. The tilt between the Bills and Chargers is particularly exciting, with two of the best QB’s in the league set to duke it out. Josh Allen and Justin Herbert have had glaringly different starts to their respective campaigns. Allen has amassed more than 600 scrimmage yards and 9 touchdowns. His counterpart in California is struggling mightily with just 400 yards and a negative ratio of two touchdowns to three interceptions. Both sides’ fortunes this season hinge almost exclusively on the performances of these men. And based on early indicators it would seem that Buffalo are in a much better position than Los Angeles. For Herbert’s sake you hope he can pull it together, but you wouldn’t count on these two teams meeting again come January.
