NFL Week 5 Review
Our NFL content is brought to you by www.printmypint.ie
What a week to return to the weekly review! Week Five provided us with some mouthwatering match ups, and it left NFL fans hungry for more. From the exciting 49ers versus Rams overtime finish on Thursday Night, Sunday’s early start in London to the final play of Sunday Night Football this was another week of action and drama!
Pats Best Bills in SNF
This game was billed as a QB battle: the gnarled veteran Allen versus the maturing young gun Maye. And what a showdown it was! Drake Maye, ably supported by ex-Pat Stefon Diggs, really stepped up in this tussle. They were flawless in the fourth quarter where Maye showcased his cool and calm, slinging a 90 yard drive with six precision passes. The Bills were hampered by turnovers: two from Allen and another from Keon Coleman. They contributed to ten points lost, and plenty of commentators are suggesting Mike Vrabel’s Patriots could be THE team to break the Bills’ five year grip on the AFC East.

Eagles Downed By Broncos
This result holds testament to the tenacity and resolve of Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos, rather than any major deficiencies the Eagles may have suddenly sprung. The Broncos were holding on at times during this battle at Lincoln Financial Field, but despite being two TDs down to Siriani’s defending champions, they showed great composure and guile to remain competitive. And so ended the Eagles’ twelve game win streak at home, you can be sure Hurts, Barkley, et al will be back to avenge this loss against the Giants on Thursday!

Ravens Continue to Plummet
The AFC North’s preseason favourites are clearly struggling this year: conceding an average of 35.4 points in every game they play. On this occasion, CJ Stroud led the Houston Texans to their first ever franchise victory in Baltimore: Stroud throwing four touchdowns and completing a sensational 417 yards. Ravens, without Lamar Jackson, managed a paltry 207 with Cooper Rush clearly struggling: completing 179 of the 207 through the air. The Ravens O-Line made life difficult for their RB Derrick Henry, who completed 16 yards in his first nine carries. Continuous breaches of discipline at key moments early on in the game counted against the Ravens, with several flags costing them gains and imbuing Harbaugh and his staff with a sense of frustration. At 1-4, where to for Harbaugh and his coaching staff? A huge kudos must be given to the Texans, holding Henry to 33 yards and Stroud’s three TDs in the first half suggest an offense that is purring: emphasised by their first punt: which was halfway through the Fourth Quarter! Exciting times in Houston: a time for reflection in the Town of the Big House …
Texans 44 Ravens 10
These three games encapsulate the high drama and precision we have the joy to witness weekly. The headlines and drama run on and on as the weeks progress, and we live for it! The game comes alive with the heroes and villains: a nod to Jerry Jones’ behaviour against the Jets.
In a personal note, I would like to extend sincerest condolences to the family and friends of former Raven and Superbowl XLVII winner, Arthur Jones. We cheer on players from our couches and in the stands, and it is heartrending to read of the death of a 39 year old, who was one we recently cheered for or whose presence we feared.
