Ireland Gets NFL Game Update

The much anticipated  NFL game in ireland is creeping ever closer to becoming a reality.

NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell further fuelled speculation on Sunday while discussing potential locations for the leagues expanding slate of international fixtures.

Goodell was speaking on the NFL network ahead of the clash between the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers in Munich, mentioning next year’s fixtures in Spain and the UK before casually dropping Ireland as a location the league is looking at.

“We’re also looking at the potential of another game in the UK or area.. in Ireland, possibly.”  Goodell said with a wry smile.

“Ireland?!? Okaaay!” host Colleen Wolfe responded with intrigue.

The comments from the NFL’s chief sent social media into a frenzy, especially as it’s the second time in recent weeks that Goodell has alluded to the prospect of the NFL coming to Ireland.

The league’s Chief has previously expressed a desire to eventually have up to 16 NFL games played around the world.

And it certainly appears that Ireland is on that list.  But who would be the two teams lining out?  Well, one we know for certain: The Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers have strong ties to the Emerald Isle, and have been actively working to expand their fanbase there with a variety of exciting activations and events.

While we don’t expect official confirmation from the league until early in 2025, all signs point to this being the real deal.
