Daniels’ Hail Mary Answered – NFL Week 8 Round Up

Well, how was week eight for you and your team? Was it another crushing defeat? Was there a replacement for an injured starter that stepped up? For some fans it was a last play winner! For others, questions arise about coaching and ownership credibility, never mind the players! There’s no doubt, the NFL again lived up to its promise: don’t miss a minute!

Daniels’ Hail Mary Prayer Answered

This sport serves up an array of surprises nearly every week: and it was Jayden Daniels’ trurn to earn the headlines this weekend. The Commanders trailed the Bears 15 to 11 with mere seconds remaining. Daniels showed great composure in the pocket to beat multiple defensive linemen. THEN heave a pass 52 yards to give his team a chance! A glancing blow off a cocky Tyrique Stevenson’s hand mere seconds later resulted in a Noah Brown reception: and the Commanders were in dreamland … no one show the replay to Stevenson.

Jets And Cowboys Continue to Plummet

You were signed as the answer to a franchise’s prayers: you would work opposite an exciting and dynamic defense to first dominate your division and THEN the entire league … maybe in your second season? Alas these were the basis for which both Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott were signed by the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys respectively: and re-signed in Prescott’s situation. Both have failed miserably.

Ah John, Rodgers was injured last year this is his first full year at the Jets; go easy on him. That’s all well and good, but after a horror show in London the Jets parted ways with Head Coach Robert Saleh, commentators and analysts expected an improvement in performance and maybe a win: alas, just like Prescott after Jason Garett’s dismissal, no “bump” has arisen.

The Jets lost to THIS Patriots team: a Patriots that appear to have revitalised a Jaguars team after the teams met in London.

Some may argue the Cowboys versus 49ers result looked closer than my criticism suggests: they aren’t that far behind a decent team. We must consider the 49ers were leading 27-10 going into the 4th Quarter: the game won before entering the latest embodiment of “garbage time!” The 49ers were halfway home when the Cowboys duly added two TDs in the fourth quarter to regain some face.

The Jets take on the Texans On Thursday Night Football and the Cowboys travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons, do you see their prospects improve?

Bills’ Consistency is Admirable

In a league that has seen GMs splash the cash on undeserving “marketable personalities” and proven stars entering the winter of their careers, the Buffalo Bills continue to shine as a beacon of diligence and consistency. The Pegulas have lead the New York franchise with a steady hand since 2014 and have been assured in the greater challenges that have crushed fans hopes across multiple franchises. The recent Amari Cooper signing has bolstered Josh Allen’s quiver of targets: and while he was relatively inactive against the Seahawks, the Miami native WILL have a large say in the second half of the season. The Minnesota Vikings have been rightly heralded for their brash and swashbuckling style: alas the Bills have showcased, on several occasions an entertaining and enjoyable offensive scheme: and showcase a tough and resilient defense and special teams. The Bills have not garnered the same amount of headlines as the Vikings (now 5-2 Kev) as they punched their way to a respectable 6-2! With the QB Josh Allen and James Cook (RB)forming a formidable attacking alliance, the immediate future is bright for the Bills. Keep your eye on the Bills in weeks 9 through seventeen.

There we go, another exciting and tantalising game week, both on the field and off it, completed. As we begin to inch closer to the midway point of the season (Week 8.5), who knows what storylines, results and shocks will occur!?! Enjoy it!
