Throughout the weekly reviews, either here or on our podcast, the tone of excitement is obvious! WE are privileged to see the top athletes compete in the most exciting sport, and this week is no different! This week we cover the tittilating shootout between Brock Purdy and Caleb Williams, we review the Browns (un)surprising win over the Steelers … and we revisit the Eagles’ narrow win over the Bills.
Purdy & Wiliams Deliver Shootout Fireworks
Brock Purdy put on a masterclass in this prime-time thriller, leading San Francisco’s aerial attack with precision and flair to outscore the Bears in a game that felt like a playoff preview. Purdy, coming off a stretch where he’s been nearly unstoppable with multiple touchdowns and a clean interception sheet recently, carved up the Chicago secondary with both his arm and legs. Chicago’s Caleb Williams matched him shot-for-shot in a dazzling display, Williams did his best to keep the Bears in striking distance until the final seconds. The defenses struggled to get off the field, and when they did, splash plays often followed – four total lead changes and momentum swings kept fans on the edge of their seats. Bears linebacker TJ Edwards even scooped a deflected pass for an early touchdown, but San Francisco responded in kind. The 49ers’ balanced attack showed why they’re contending for a top NFC seed, while Chicago proved they can seriously compete with the NFC’s elite. Turnovers were scarce, and sacks were at a premium, letting both quarterbacks work rhythmically through their progressions. With this win, San Francisco keeps pace for home-field advantage and sets up a huge Week Eighteen showdown with the Seahawks. Bears fans can be proud of a high-octane showing that signals a bright future ahead.

Browns spoil Steelers’ division hopes
In a gritty AFC North battle that swung playoff implications, the Browns flipped the script on the Steelers, snapping their four-game losing streak. They also skid hindered the Steelers’ bid to clinch their division: ensuring a nervous final week for Steelers’ nation. Rookie Shedeur Sanders provided spark and stability, throwing for 186 yards and a touchdown, though he also had two interceptions that gave Steelers fans hope throughout the Fourth Quarter and right up to the final whistle. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers struggled to find a rhythm, finishing with just 168 yards and unable to get his team into the end zone, instead relying on Boswell Field Goals in a game that slowly slipped out of the Steelers’ grasp. The Browns’ defense stood tall, limiting big plays and creating enough pressure to disrupt rhythm without Myles Garrett recording a single sack to reach a new record of sacks in a singke season. This win not only boosts Browns morale, but forces the Steelers into a must-win Week Eighteen showdown with the Ravens for the AFC North crown. The Steelers’ offence, often reliant on veteran precision, sputtered at key moments – and that lack of punch could cost them dearly as the postseason looms. The AFC North race is far from over, and with one weekend left, every snap will matter in the hunt for seeding.

Eagles Edge Bills in Defensive Slugfest
This nail-biting showdown provided a different brand of drama to Purdy versus Williams: defensive defiance. The Eagles’ front seven owned this matchup, sacking Bills QB Josh Allen five times and forcing crucial incompletions late in the fourth quarter. The Eagles’ offence did just enough, grinding out yardage and capitalising on field position in a classic chess match decided in the trenches. Buffalo’s high-powered attack looked uncharacteristically off-balance. The O-Line was under constgant duress, and despite Allen’s toughness, the pressure tilted field position in Philly’s favour more often than not. Special teams and defensive execution became the difference, highlighting just how finely tuned playoff-ready squads operate in tight windows. With this result, the Eagles inch closer to home-field implications in the NFC, while the Bills find themselves clinging to the seventh seed and eager for a Week Eighteen bounce back. As we inch toward the postseason, performances like this remind us that defence still wins championships – and that every pressure-packed sack counts.
