NFL Week 1 Recap

It’s finally football season once again NFL fans and Week 1 is in the bag and boy did it not disappoint! We had blow outs, shock wins, rookies balling out and of course, we had injuries minor, major and season ending.

Without further ado let’s get into this Week 1 recap!

Monday Night Football

New York Jets 22 – Buffalo Bills 16 (OT)

There are a few shocking outcomes from the above games, Week 1 did not disappoint, starting with the Lions knocking off the Chiefs and ruining their banner unveiling and not to be the only team running a special occasion, the Eagles made sure to ruin Brady’s homecoming to New England by knocking off the Patriots.

The Browns made a statement by holding the Bengals to a field goal and making sure Burrows Sunday wasn’t one to write home about and the Browns will be looking to take this momentum and give the Pittsburgh Steelers a matching black eye to go with the one the 49ers gave them at home on Sunday!

The Bears were hoping now that Aaron Rodgers was gone to the AFC they would have a fresh start with the Packers, but Jordon Love made sure to continue dominating the Bears in Rodgers place.

Derek Carr just about won his debut as a Saint, nothing special about his game but it’s always good to start off on the right foot with a new team and Baker Mayfield did the same as a Buccaneer but can they both keep the win streak going?

Tua and Herbert will be battling out for the majority of their careers and long may that continue, you cannot beat seeing two quarterbacks in their prime duelling it out in a shootout. This is the kinda football that puts butts in seats!

Calvin Ridley did not look like he missed any football and is going to be Lawrence’s new best friend going forward. There was no rust to knock off and number 0 made sure he was a threat to be respected going forward!

The Falcons put their division on notice! Their one two punch of Allgeier and Robinson ensured they put the hurt on the Panthers, wore down their defence and brought back the W! This team should be exciting to watch going forward.

Josh Allen had more passes to Jets players than Aaron Rodgers did on Monday Night Football, and if you know a Jets fan, please check in on them, they’re gonna be hurting even though they won.

While all but one rookie from the 1st round saw the field on Week 1, some of them faced limited snap counts and did not make an impact.

Others like Zay Flowers, Jordan Adison and Will Anderson Jr, showed flashes of their talent, we then saw Bijan Robinson, Anthony Robinson and Paris Johnson Jr all showing how ready they are after Week 1 to make a huge impact.

While CJ Stroud and Bryce Young showed they have the talent, there is always going to be heavy judgement on the #1 and #2 overall picks regardless of their performance.

We’ll check back on our rookies in a few weeks!
