2022 Hall of Fame Nominees announced!

The time has come to select the 2022 Class to the Irish American Football Hall of Fame! This year’s nominees include some real legends of the game, who encapsulate the spirit of the sport.

We’re doing things a little bit differently this time around and giving you, our fans, the chance to have your say in who gets enshrined! You can vote for your favourite player or choose who you think deserves it the most.

The 2022 Irish American Football Hall of Fame Nominees are…

Gareth Millar

This ferocious running back needs no introduction, especially if you’ve ever tried to bring him to the ground. Known for his bruising running style and imposing his will on Linebackers, “Suntan” has since transitioned to coaching and is no doubt passing on a wealth of football knowledge to the next generation!

Augustas “Gus” Zigmantavicius

Off the field, Gus was the nicest quietest guy going. On the field however, was a different story. He wasn’t happy until he put you in the ground. A stalwart of the Dragons defensive front, Gus dominated anyone he came up against and was never far from the tackle.

Rob McDowell

One of the best athletes to ever play Irish American Football, Rob McDowell was once described as a human frog due to this freakish lower body strength. Trinity Football just hasn’t been the same since his departure. McDowell now resides in California.

Andrew Dennehy

A former Rebels and Wolfhounds signal caller, Dennehy was a key part of the Dublin side’s dominance in the early 00’s. While his playing days have finally come to a close, he will always be remembered as one of the best Irish Quarterbacks of his generation.

Paul Braniff

It just wouldn’t be right if we left out a Lineman nominee. Paul Braniff has been a stalwart of Offensive Lines up North since before most of us were even born, and now plies his trade as a Coach with the Belfast Trojans. If anyone is deserving of Hall of Fame status, it’s this guy.

You can cast your vote using the form below. The 2022 Hall of Fame will be announced later in the season. In the meantime, check out the inaugural class from last year.

  1. I’ve played with or against all of these guys and they not just great players, but good people too. I also think Paul Braniff holds the league record for getting away with holding.😛
